Podiatry Business Owner. Work Life Balance.

How do you think you’re going with the much spoken about ‘work-life-balance’?

Often, when busy or focused on one particular project or job we find ourselves off balance and we stop paying attention to important parts of our lives.

Getting things done, focusing on your business and work is important, but from time to time many of us can take this too far and that’s when we need to stop and take a whole life view of our world in order to bring things back into balance

The Wheel Of Life (concept by Paul J. Meyer, founder of Success Motivation Institute, Inc.) is a handy tool that provides you with a powerful visual of your work-life-balance and helps bring things into perspective.

The Wheel helps you consider all areas of your life and assess those areas which are off balance. When you review your Wheel – you see clearly the areas that require attention …

The Wheel Of Life

  • Start by drawing a circle
  • Divide the circle into sections by drawing lines out from the centre (Brainstorm 6 – 8 sections of your life. Some examples are below)
  • Number the lines. 1 being in the centre and 10 being on the outer of the circle.

scale-1-to-10-white

  • Label each line as per the sections of your life
  • Work your way around the circle assessing each area of your life
  • Chart on each line, a representation of where you currently are – for each section of your life
  • Join up the marks around the circle

You will end up with something like this (example only).

Wheel Of Life. Work-Life-Balance

Is your Wheel balanced?

[hr]

A balanced Wheel doesn’t mean you have a 10 in every section.

Consider your Wheel – some areas may require more attention and focus than others.

The key, now you have a visual representation of your Wheel Of Life, is to note the areas where you have gaps and take action …?

You may need to make choices and you may need to make change. Your time, and your energy are not endless.?

We create our lives out of Action and Inaction. Look at your Wheel and decide what you will STOP. START ? and CONTINUE.

until next time,
