How long have you been in business?
Current location for 3 and a half years. Mobile for 3 years prior to that.

What attracted you to Podiatry?
I moved to Podiatry from Registered Nursing. I wasn’t keen on looking after people who had lifestyle illnesses but weren’t prepared to accept that they were responsible for the condition that they were in. I liked the aspect of problem solving, being able to make a difference to people in a short time (I believe that good mobility provides people with independence) and still involved in health/medical without vomit involved.

What‘s the funniest thing that’s happened to you in the clinic?
This actually happened yesterday. I dispensed a pair of orthoses to a lady and they were a really good fit and did all the things that I wanted them to do. When I was placing the insoles from her shoes into the orthotic bag I noticed that the orthoses she had in her shoes actually belonged to someone else. Woops.!! Not so funny really but made me realise that I need to work on that area of my business. She took it really well and said lucky that I noticed it now. Yes, I think it would have been hard to make that phone call to say please return with your orthotic as they don’t belong to you?

What are your interests outside Podiatry?
I have 3 boys aged 13, 11 and 9. I like to exercise with either running, the gym and basketball. I am constantly reading health/fitness articles. 2 years ago I walked the Kokoda track and last year my husband and I cycled from Alice Springs to Darwin (1524kms in 7 days). I haven’t been on the bike much since! I also love renovating and picking up quirky things at garage sales. I wasn’t really aware of it until it was pointed out by people who walk through my house that I collect big clocks.

Share what you love about your family, pet/s or hobbies?
I love being with my boys even though it is often very noisy. Exercise is me time and I function so much better if I have been to the gym in the morning before the household awakes.
