Leadership Culture – Playing Above The Line In Your Podiatry Practice
Each of us encounters challenges, problems or obstacles in our lives and at work – and often, it can be easier to blame, shame or deny – rather than tackling things head on.
Maybe you don’t do this, but I’ll bet you know someone in your life who does respond this way.
Blame, Shame or Deny. It’s called Playing Below The Line.
The thing is – it’s within our power to recognise the behaviour and CHANGE.
As a Podiatry practice leader and business owner, you have a choice about how you respond to the events that affect the everyday running of your practice.
Your response can either be REACTIVE … i.e. you are like the fire fighter running around putting out fires … or it can be CREATIVE … i.e. you are always looking for solutions for developing a better run practice.
In an ideal situation you would give your team permission to behave in a creative mindset which starts to develop a positive business culture.
Playing Above The Line can be hard work. It can be outside people’s comfort zone – but the more you challenge yourself, your team, the people in your life to be CREATIVE – rather than REACTIVE… the closer you get to achieving the culture you’re after.
And remember, ‘The Fish Stinks From The Head Down’... Playing Above The Line needs to start from the head – from the top. Meaning as the podiatry business owner – that’s YOU…
So ask yourself that question again; Do you own challenges or do you side-step them? Are you prepared to commit to playing above the line?
