  • How long have you been in business?

    12 years

  • What attracted you to Podiatry?

Mark was attracted to podiatry because of his love of sport. He also saw it as a way to help people. He wanted to be able to be his own boss and set up a business. It’s about as far-removed from the public service as he could think of. And it was also because we wanted to get away from Canberra and set up a business on the coast…. Didn’t happen!

  • What’s driving your passion to be a Podiatry business owner and how will you pass this on, into your business and practice culture?

It’s about being able to fashion our own work and life environment. It’s about being masters of our own destiny.

  • What are the largest business challenges facing you right now?

    Getting enough patients.

  • What are the 3 worst things you have seen in Podiatry?

    1. Doctor refused to believe that the patient’s condition was developing into a charcot foot because the patient didn’t have diabetes.
    2. Working a Liverpool – a patient was brought in who committed suicide by swallowing a box of Ratsak. The body was giving off such noxious fumes that the nearby army base had to provide a chemical warfare bag to put the body in.
    3. Maggots! Need I say more…
  • What are the 3 best things you have seen in Podiatry?

    1. We remember one patient who was in the wars with her medical condition. Her daughter brought her to us because she knew about our mobility work – and the patient had such a big turnaround. It was really good to see.
    2. It’s a good day when patient after patient comes out saying they are “walking on air” or “feel like dancing” or saying wonderful things about their podiatrist and their treatment.
    3. One of our patients survived open heart surgery and wanted to run the City to Surf. He was having a lot of trouble with his feet and legs. We treated him and he came in to show us his medal for completing the run.
  • Other than being a fabulous Podiatrist, what do you do outside of Podiatry?

Mark loves scuba diving and dreams of travelling to somewhere like East Timor to volunteer for an ocean conservation organisation. Liz is currently dreaming of going back to uni to study to be an architect.
